Stanley Pilkey Obituary

Stanley Robert Pilkey

Stan was a gentleman, kind, generous, thoughtful and authentic. He was a loving, devoted husband, father and friend.

Born November 30, 1945, in Tacoma Washington and died December 2, 2013 in Bellevue Washington. Stan grew up in Bellingham, WA attending Larrabee Elementary, Fairhaven Jr. High. and Bellingham High School. He received his Bachelors in Sociology from Western Washington University. Stan was a proud member of the US Army Reserves.

In 1971, he was hired to become a US Postal Inspector, fighting crime ranging from mail fraud/bomb cases, financial and service audits, and other miscellaneous criminal work. He retired after nearly 31 years of service. Considering himself too young to retire, he became a Consumer Fraud Analyst for the West River Group, helping fraud inspectors prepare cases for the US Attorneys. He traveled the world for his work and shared many stories with his family. Stan was deeply invested and highly revered by his colleagues, mentoring many during his career.

Stan married his childhood sweetheart Marilee, and raised their two boys Jarrett and Christopher in Bellevue. He loved to play cards and golf with his friends and family at Tam O'Shanter Golf and Country Club and on many other courses in the US, Mexico and Hawaii. He loved to watch his sons sports activities and calmed down Marilee when she became too excited.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Doris Pilkey and his parents-in-law Dr. John and Lillian Dickerson. He leaves behind his loving wife Marilee, sons, Jarrett and Christopher (Annie), his sister Cindy Snider, his brother-in-law Biff Dickerson, sister-in-law Marcia DeLorme, and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Rest in Peace Stanley Robert Pilkey.

You are immensely loved and will be forever missed.

You have left us way too soon. Your powerful presence and shy playful smile walks with us. We know you will hold us all in your protective sight while we send you off into your journey with our love and our tears.

A celebration of Stan's life will be held at a future date.

Remembrances can be sent to Seattle Children's Hospital or the Lillian Jones Dickerson Scholarship at Western Washington University.

I just read the latest NARPI newsetter and became aware of Stan's death. I had the pleasure of working with Stan as a new Inspector back in the mid 80's. He was funny, smart and an excellent tutor. I have many fond memories of working investigations, traveling, playing tennis and enjoying Stan's humor during my time in Seattle. May he rest in peace

Marilee, I have thought of you and Stan a thousand and one times since we visited in September. I can hardly believe how quickly he was taken. His smile and kindness were so apparent at our reunion, even though he was so ill. God Bless You, dear Marilee. You are now, and always will be, my best friend. My heart and love goes with you, dear lady.

To my friend and mentor you will always be with me. Your words of wisdom made me the investigator that I am today. But what I will remember most is our many Reb Robin lunches during my time in Seattle. You will be missed!

Dear Marilee, I was just looking on the computer and read about Stan's passing. I was so shocked because last time I saw him he looked so good. I have such fond memories of you and him with Joe and I. Maybe he is up there golfing with Joe now. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Roxanne

Marilee, Jarrett, Christopher and all Stan's family. So sorry to hear about Stan. I enjoyed knowing Stan and working with him. Especially when he was trying to teach this old cop how to do audits! He was certainly well respected and a joy to be around. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted". Matt. 5:4 If you ever find yourself in Tillamook County Oregon the ice cream and cheese is on me.

Stan was the person that conducted my background investigation that resulted in me being hired as a postal inspector in 1978. He always was a class act. So sorry to learn of his passing.
