Marjorie Call Kimbrough

Marjorie Call Kimbrough was born in Chicago Illinois on August 7, 1923. She was the daughter of Stevie Kennington and Rev. Lon Ray Call. Following her mother's death she was raised by her father, a minister in the Unitarian Church, who became in time Minister Emeritus and a leading figure in the founding of lay parishes across the country. She married James Irving Kimbrough and they had a marriage of 69 years and were always together. After some years on the east coast she moved to Washington State where she lived with her family for the rest of her life. She was an active member of the University Unitarian Church for many years. In later life she and Jim moved from Seattle, to Redmond Washington and finally Bellevue. She became an active and beloved member of the Woodinville Unitarian Church. Through her life she was deeply involved in organizations and movements to change the world for the better. She was an early member of Turn Toward Peace and was a lifelong opponent of nuclear proliferation. She was an early member of The Crisis Clinic. She was an active supporter and volunteer for Planned Parenthood and Habitat For Humanity. She assisted her husband Jim in his campaigns for Seattle City Council always advocating a liberal position. She died on December 25, 2013. She was preceded in death by James Kimbrough her husband. She is survived by her two children Brian, his wife Elizabeth and Bruce, two grandchildren Margarita and Raquel and a cousin Charles and his wife Nancy. She was a lifelong humanist who believed in human potential and worked throughout her life to help achieve that potential.

A lifelong Unitarian she once said that Unitarianism was "my guiding star throughout my life." The family suggests that any memorial donations may be made to the Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church 19020 NE Woodinville Duvall Rd. Woodinville WA 98072.

A Memorial Service will be held in her memory on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church.
