Susanna Dreher Obituary

Susanna Elisa Dreher

Susanna Elisa Dreher, "Susie," born in Bellevue on September 18, 2012, passed away on July 1,

2015 after being struck by a car in Redmond Town Center.

Born on a beautiful sunny day, Susie was a uniquely joyful human from the moment she emerged. When we brought her home from the hospital, we were delighted by her persistent happiness. As days turned into weeks and months, her happy and mellow personality endured and a deeply loving, smiley, cuddly child emerged.

By the time Susie was a year and a half, it was apparent that she was strongly drawn to sports. An early walker, she had no problem keeping up with her older sister Jillian, and she was always kicking or throwing a ball with great interest. Recently, a seasoned coach had stepped aside to say how she had never seen a two year old with such apparent talent for dribbling a soccer ball. She loved the Seahawks and insisted on wearing a long-sleeved Seahawks shirt to bed on one of her last nights, despite the warm weather.

Her last weeks with us were filled with jubilance and so many beautiful days spent playing with her best friend and older sister Jillian. In May, Susie also welcomed her new baby sister into the world with great affection. We deeply cherish the time the three girls were together.

Susie is survived by her father Jonathan and mother Veronica, as well as her two sisters, Jillian (4) and Genevieve (6 weeks).

Dearest Susie, you filled our hearts with so much

love and happiness.

You will always be with us and we promise to carry your joyous spirit with us everyday.

A celebration of Susie's life will be held at the Happy Valley Grange, 19720 NE 50th St. in Redmond, at 9:00am on Thursday, July 9th.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to Safe Crossings, a charity that helps children coping with grief. The website is http://safecrossingsfoundation.org.

I was talking to a friend to a friend @ the gym on 7/2..we both have small children (5 yrs and 5 month old is my pair) and she said her Dad was one of the officers that came. I was saddened and felt for the family and Mom. Tonight my family went to the Redmond town center and I noticed the permanent change to the street for safety that was done after your passing. Then I saw the flowers and wept. I hope you heard what our family said as we took a moment to speak to you..play you little Angel up above. Claire, Charlotte, Cambria and Steve.

Sweet Little Angel Susie,
My first memory of you was your loving mother telling me she was pregnant with you. She was so happy! And I was so happy for her and your daddy. Each week that went by your mamma's belly grew...she cared, nurtured and protected you. Then came the day she told me they had selected a name for you, but wasn't going to tell anyone; only that it started with an "S". I promise I guessed all the "S" names, including Susie, but your momma said that I had skipped right over that one, but I don't think so. ;-) As your day to be born was getting near, I was secretly hopping you were going to be born on my birthday so that we could share cake, but you had a different idea and came a few days earlier. And how pretty you were from day one! Such a sweet little baby girl!! Your momma could not believe how good you were either - good eater, good sleeper. Total angel. Watching you grow has been a joy. Losing you is a terrible tragedy that no one will get over, and there are no words that can help. My heart just aches for your family. I feel extremely blessed that I had the pleasure of meeting you for the short time you were here on Earth. You were an angel while you were here, just as you are now. Rest in peace sweet Susie.

A week has passed since your death, and I still haven't stopped thinking about you and your family. I was at the town center that day and prayed with all my heart you would be ok. This is a tragedy beyond my comprehension. I wish I could take away some of the pain and sorrow of your famiy. I pray that God will be with your family and restore peace. I will keep praying over the years for your parents and your two sisters who will all most definitely miss you.

Thinking of you folks today as we say the kaddish and mourn also the passing, this morning, of Michaella's grandmother at age 91. Such is the natural order of things and we mourn her loss, full of wisdom, as we mourn the loss of your lovely smart darling girl so full of life and love and promise. Reminded in Sophia's well-chosen words, to hug each other tight and take extra good care of one another. Love to you and, thank god, Susie's sisters to carry on and be strong as you are showing us today by not hiding nor shielding but sharing your grief, in action making us all sadder, wiser, stronger.
Love from your Berkeley relatives,
Peter, Michaella, Sara

Dearest Little Angel... I was at Redmond Towne Center at the time of the accident, I am shook to my core with sadness & empathy. I will never forget my son's 6th birthday, as I stood with several other Mothers - all strangers - and we cried & hugged in your honor. May love & peace surround your family...
