John West

Seattle attorney, John West, met the challenges of cancer with his typical strength and dignity and peacefully passed away at home on June 22, 2015. John was born September 23, 1944 in Centralia, WA and grew up in the Gray's Harbor area. He graduated from the University of Washington (BA) and earned his law degree at Harvard University. John practiced in the law firms of Jones Grey & Bayley; Miller Nash; and Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson. He was preceded in death by his father, John Pence West, and is survived by his mother, Opal West; brother, Steve West (Dori); wife, Linda West; children, David West (Cinthia), Tracy Bashungwa, Josh Harrell (Dasa), James Leyba, and David Leyba (Angela); and grandchildren, Olivia, Jacob, Paisley, Saffiya, Amari, Sabina, and Kiana.

A reception to remember John will be held on Wednesday, August 19, from 7:00-9:00 pm, at The Hollywood Schoolhouse, 14810 Northeast 145th St., Woodinville, WA. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a cause of your choice.
