George Schuchart Obituary

George Sprague Schuchart

George S. Schuchart died peacefully in his home on Saturday afternoon, August 22, 2015. He was born in Everett, WA May 19, 1926 to George J. Schuchart and Myrtis M. Wright. He attended Everett High School and the United States Naval Academy. Upon graduation he married Judy Jones, a girl he said he met waiting for the school bus to Everett High School.

His first assignment in the Navy was aboard the destroyer USS Brush in the Korean War when it hit a floating mine on September 27, 1950. George and Judy lived in Pensacola, FL, where George did his flight training, and then in Brunswick, ME.

They returned to the northwest where he began his career in the construction company founded by his grandfather, Howard S. Wright. With a degree in Engineering, George concentrated his efforts on the industrial side of the business, expanding beyond local pulp and paper mill construction and maintenance to the national level with projects throughout the country. His company participated in the construction of power plants as well as the fabrication of countless oil refining modules sent to the north slope of Alaska in a project known as the "Sealift".

George had a genuine interest in people. His affable approach and natural ability to connect provided him with years of enriching work and friendships. The enthusiasm he brought to his business and social activities was evident in his passionate commitment to many charitable organizations.

During the early years of their 66 year marriage, George and Judy had five spirited children. A generous and devoted father, George made having fun a high priority. The family enjoyed summers at Mission Beach, skiing at Crystal Mountain and sailboat trips north to Desolation Sound. In 1971 they bought a home in Palm Springs. The house grew with the family over the years and became the site of many happy times shared with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

George is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, as well as his beloved son Jomie. He is survived by his wife Julia Jones Schuchart, his children George and Laurie Schuchart, Barb and Charlie Wright, Sally and Jon Raymond, Migs and Bing Wright, and Jomie's wife Patty Schuchart. He was loved by his ten beautiful grandchildren, Casey and Allison Schuchart and sons Jomie and Gregor, Amy and Scott Stonehocker and children Sophie, Emma and Cooper, Mary Schuchart, Sally and Tim Johnston and boys Cole, Gray and Bo, Cole Wright, Judy and Nick Anderson, Jomie and George Raymond, Sam and Sally Wright and Bagley and Merion Wright.

The Schuchart family wishes to thank Jeff Hochadel, who has been an integral part of our family for the past nine years. His creative caregiving has enhanced all of our lives and his dedication to George was unparalleled.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 on Tuesday, September 1 at St. Mark's Cathedral.

Only today April 10, 2016 am I finding out that George had passed away late last year.
At Paine Field, Everett, I worked for Willard Flying Service as chief mechanic and we serviced George's Maule aircraft as well as Howard S. Wright's King Air. When Willards went bankrupt, George came to me and said that he wanted to keep me as their mechanic. He took me to his office in Seattle and surrounded me with expert business staff and asked If I had a business plan. I did and Crown Aviation was born as George took me to Rainier Bank at Silver Lake and co-signed a loan so I could replace Willard Flying Service with a new business, Crown Aviation. He even got the banker to lower the loan rate because of their company's financial strengths.

We maintained the King Air for several years and also the Maule. Even taping up the right wing after a minor mishap at Boeing Field in a cross wind landing.

George was always kind but you knew that he had "My back" and followed the progress of Crown. We did pay back the loan in just a year and eventually after 19 years in the business, I retired and Crown was sold to an FBO on the field. His support and going the extra mile for us is a wonderful memory of a man who trusted us and whom I felt was a genuine friend. Thank's for the memory. Joe McLennan

My condolences are with the Entire Schuchart Family. George was a great man and I once worked for George at Schuchart and Associates Engineering Company in Seattle. He was always fair and honest with me. My Mother and Father Bud and Patti Haring (Redmann) also of Everett, Wa went to School with George and always looked forward to their Everett High School Class Reunions. My Parents always enjoyed so much visiting with George and Judy and talked about those times for years to come and couldn't wait for the next gathering. My prayers are with each one of you at this time. God Bless, Tim Haring

George Schuchart was a wonderful, wonderful man. He was the epitome of the phrase, 'joie de vivre' . But most importantly, he was a great father. Between his wife Judy and him, they created a lovely family. He will sorely missed but ever so fondly remembered. Thank you Mr. Schuchart for the fun you created for us at Mission Beach and we were recipients of the water walker fun which I can still envision you bringing down the ramp on your shoulders with your larger than life smile, giggling all the way down the slope I also remember you buying your entire entourage tickets to see the Beatles on their first U.S (Seattle) tour in the 60's. What a treat. You were/are the Creme de la Creme and a great void will be apparent here on earth. Here's to your reunion with Jome. May you soar to greater heights with your son, Jone as your first and last wingman. Infinite love to you and your family here on this side of the celestial divide.
