As an Everett High School junior I was assigned to Eleanor's English class. She had a reputation of being tough as nails and very demanding. I flourished in her class. It was the year I was naturalized a U.S. citizen and she made it a class event. Yes, she required that we work hard and be prepared -- often considered an inconvenience to a high school student. I'll be forever grateful for her interest and guidance.
