Jacob Christopher Coterel, age 23 months, died Monday, November 29, 2010.

He was born December 22, 2008, in Columbia, the son of James E. Coterel, Jr. and Crystal Nichole Naylor, who survive of the home.

Jacob was a happy, loving little boy with a great sense of adventure. He began to walk at seven months old, then run, and was on the go ever since. He never seemed to run out of energy and would often be found riding with a family member on the four-wheeler, tractor, lawnmower, or anything that involved being outdoors. He loved to dance and quickly learned how to flirt with women. He loved his sister, Skylin, and his dog, Cheeba very much. He attended First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, survivors include a sister, Skylin Coterel, of the home; his maternal grandparents, Chris and Sherri Naylor, maternal great grandparents, Ralph and Judy Naylor, and Mildred Bell, all of Sedalia; paternal grandmother, Shawna Lockley, of Sandwich, MA; paternal grandfather, James Coterel, Sr., of Sedalia; ten aunts and uncles, Chris Kyle Naylor, Gregory Alan Naylor, Allie Louise Naylor, all of Sedalia, Leanna Kay Lee, of Columbia, Timothy Coterel, Kristen Coterel, Scott Coterel, all of Sedalia, Adam DiPetta and Ryan DiPetta, both of Sandwich, MA, and Stacy Coterel, of Bentonville, AR; nine great uncles, Stan Coterel, Gary Naylor, Michael Bell, all of Sedalia, Ronnie Bell, of San Diego, CA, Basil (Nancy) Coterel, Larry (Brenda) Coterel, all of Dayton, OH, Danny (Karen) Coterel, of Palmdale, CA, Kyle Gruber and Kevin Gruber, both of Chino Hills, CA; nine great aunts, Dawn Coterel, of Bentonville, AR, Brenda Pummill, Carla Homan, Cheryle Bell, all of Sedalia, Angela Wilson, of Lawrence, KS, Winona (Charlie) Pointer, of Kansas City, MO, Diane Nadeau, of Springfield, MO, Debbie (Bill) Farley, of TN, Donna (Jim) Lucas, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by a maternal great-grandfather, Carroll E. Bell; paternal great-grandparents, Janice and Gene Gruber, and Basil and Sylvia Coterel; great-great grandparents, Charles A. and Marie Alcorn; great uncles, Gordon Coterel and Kerry Bell; and cousins Cody Branstetter, Lakeland Gail Pummill and William Deml, Jr.

Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, December 3, at First United Methodist Church Celebration Center with the Rev. Jim Downing, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Zachary Nutt, David Schlup, James Moore and Chris Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Skylin Coterel, Greg Naylor, Chris Kyle Naylor, Gary Naylor, Bob Pummill, Scott Coterel, Stan Coterel, Ralph Naylor, Brett Sorrell, Ryan Booze, Cooper Lee, Marissa Lee, Jaden Martin, Donna Clifford and Jo Homan. Cremation will take place after the service.

The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 pm Thursday, December 2 at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
