I worked with Lou on several shows at the PALACE SHOWBOAT DINNER THEATER at POLLARDVILLE, just outside of STOCKTON. He was devoted to live theater, and was wonderful to work with. Fond memories, and fondest regards to one of the best men I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Sorry to see you go, Lou...

Yes, I true gentleman he was. The Nardi's were the pillar of respect amongst the italian fishermen's famililes of North Beach, Ron and I share that respect. Lou was a talented man who I know could have done Broadway if he wished. Don, also, always had a great respect for all of Lou's education endeavors. He also enjoyed their infrequent chats over the years. Ron, Dolores & Don send comfort to Lou's wife, and sister, Rosalee. Recchioni/Cassady Families. Santa Rosa, Ca.

Mr. Nardi was my drama teacher at El Camino High School in South San Francisco (class of '67). He was very happy about the little theater being built there, and we enjoyed many happy times under his leadership doing an number of stage productions. I remember when he arranged to have the Beau Brummels visit the school and he asked me to guard the door to keep the girls out -- screaming girls practically broke it down to get in. Some of the girls later told me that they had a crush on Mr. Nardi but they eventually got over it. I saw Mr. Nardi last in 2008 at our 40th school reunion and was so glad to see him there. God Bless you, sir, and dear Lord please comfort Lou's wife and family. Mr. Nardi, you're in good hands now.

Lou, you were a great blessing to all you taught in the far to few years you were here. Eventhough I only had the great pleasure of meeting you once, I had the impression that you were a true gentleman with a big heart, this feeling was obviously true from reading the entries of those who had the pleasure of knowing you better. May you rest in peace and may God surround you with all the good that you have so willingly spread to others throughout your life. Nancy and Rosaleen remember that you were blessed with this wonderful man. God Bless You.

Like several other of my friends who have posted messages here, I was a student of Lou's at Delta College. I have so many wonderful memories of our dance class (mentioned by Janice) & I can still see Lou in front of us, working out the steps, demonstrating, then encouraging. We were a bunch of clumsy, goofy college kids, but he put on "Tea for Two" from "No, No, Nanette" & at his urging, we were transformed. We learned more from Lou than I could ever sum up here, but I always remember this line: "If you're gonna make a mistake, make it big." He taught us to make the audience believe that we goofed up on purpose. As a litigator, I have put that lesson to work in the courtroom many, many times. In fact, without Lou's tutelage & encouragement, I would probably never have set foot in a courtroom because he did a lot to boost my confidence level, and for that, I will be eternally grateful. Those were fun days & I am happy to say that most of us Delta kids are still friends, something else I attribute to the legacy of Lou & his colleagues, including Al Muller. We were and are a family. Nancy, I send my condolences to you & prayers for your strength in the days ahead, and thank you for all the nights you sat in the theatre at Delta next to Lou & stayed out late with him after rehearsals and performances. Your presence in his life did not go unnoticed or forgotten.

Lou was a true gentleman with a joy of theater that inspired those around him. I had the privilege of performing Fagin in “Oliver” under the direction of Lou at San Joaquin Delta College about 30+ years ago. It was truly one of the high points of my theatrical life. Lou was always encouraging and knew how to direct by suggestion rather than declaration and had the ability to challenge actors and at the same time give them space to create.

"Lou Nardi will be sorely missed. I worked with Lou on many musicals at Delta College. His passion for theatre was contagious. Because of his inspiration, I'm still involved in the theatre as an actor and musician.
Lou Nardi was great fun to work with. God bless you, Lou. "

Beside being a fine teacher and director, Lou was a wonderful mentor and friend. He was always open and approachable. I too cherish the memories of sharing a meal after rehearsal and listening to him talk about theater and life in general. A classy guy. All of us who were lucky enough to have you in our lives for awhile will miss you Lou. My deepest sympathies to you Nancy, I also cherish the memories of visiting with you and Lou together and seeing what couple should be. Thank you.

At Delta College in Stockton, Lou taught us how to dance and sing. For many of us it was the only time we would be on stage in that capacity. Thank you Lou, after 30+ years we still remember how to do those steps.

Lou was a dear friend, teacher, and mentor to me during my years at San Joaquin Delta College and beyond. He taught me so much about the art of theatre and the business of it. He showed by example what it meant to show up at rehearsals "ready to work". Lou was a true gentleman and a gentle man. He never raised his voice in anger and always took the time to encourage others efforts. I enjoyed so many great meals with him before and after rehearsals; chatting about theatre, his life, life in general. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to him for giving me many of the tools of the trade that have served me in my 35+ years of working in theatre. Rest in peace, my dear friend. You are already greatly missed. My love to you, Nancy. You and Lou were always such a shining example of a loving marriage.

I grew up in Stockton, California and was priveleged to have Lou Nardi as an encouraging teacher and director at Delta College (Carousel, Guys and Dolls, Showboat, Theater Dance Class). My husband and I have many fond memories of theater and, as the years passed, we realized his positive influence in our lives. We even met in one of his productions. We are grateful for this gentle, caring man who taught and encouraged us in art and life and send our regards to Nancy.

I will always remember Mr. Nardi as a wonderul inspriation, teacher, talent and truly nice guy when I think of the time I spent as a student at the High School Drama Workshop at San Francisco State University in 1969. I can still do some of the dance steps he taught us to "Hey Big Spender." How fortunate I was to have known him.

Rarely in my life has there been an individual who left such an indelible impression on me as did Lou Nardi. I'm both proud and grateful to say I was his student for 2 years. Two brief years that ended over 40 years ago and, looking back, 2 years that passed much too quickly. Yet, I can still see his ever-smiling face and sense his patient understanding of what it was like to be a young person trying to find one's way in the world. Thank you for all you gave me, Lou.

Lou will surely be missed by all his dear friends from North Beach where he grew up. I'll always remember the hours we spent chatting on the corner of Filbert & Jones Sts. Lou's contributions as artistic director for musicals at the Salesian Boys' & Girls Club will live on indefinitely. Not to be overlooked, Lou was a standout pitcher for St.Ignatius High School and led the SS Peter & Paul CYO team to Northern CA. Championship in1950.....YES, a true gentleman.
Our love and prayers to Nancy, Rosaleen and family. Joe & Pola Martino (San Rafael, CA.)
