Albert Simon Obituary

Albert Simon 87, of Walnut Creek passed away on October 31st. Al was born in Dieblich, Germany, on February 14, 1923, immigrating to the U.S. at the age of 12. Al and his late wife Miriam Kelber Simon, started American Toy & Plastics Company, which grew into Simco, Inc. Al was very involved in nonprofit organizations in both the Jewish community and the community-at-large, and raised a great deal of money for Israel through the Jewish Federation. Al was passionate about and gave generously to AASK, Hadassah, Temple Beth Abraham, and the Home for Jewish Parents. Al and the love of his life, Miriam, were true partners in business and personal life. Their children, Sandy Simon, Belinda Simon Harris, Julie Simon Glenn, and Lance Simon, along with 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, survive him. The family requests donations in Al's name to One Community Fund at Reutlinger Community for Jewish Living or Hospice of the East Bay. A memorial service will be held this Sunday November 7 at 2pm in the Beit Knesset sanctuary at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette.
