Barbara Williams Obituary

Barbara (Bartlett) Reese Williams Died peacefully Nov 16, 2010 in SF. Born May 17, 1930, in SF to Col. Frank M. and Sara (Budinger) Bartlett. Pre-deceased by siblings Patsy and Robert "Bruce" Bartlett. Loving mother of Patricia and David (Karen) Reese, grandmother to Vanessa, Megan, Rosemary and Magdalena, cousin to Helen Budinger. Leaves behind many friends in the outer Sunset district. She grew up in Hillsborough before moving to SF, graduating from Convent of the Sacred Heart. Employed for over 35 years by Carpenter's Trust Fund and by DPAS as a computer programmer/operator. Politically active, she participated in civil rights and anti-war movements, and in later years as a member of the Gray Panthers and neighborhood organizations. As a young woman she formed half of the folk-music duo "Pete and Barb", and was an avid square dancer. During the 60's, she owned the Salvation Navy, a "junktique store", with her dear friend, the late Joan Stevens. She enjoyed the Opera and Ballet, was a devoted fan of the 49'ers and Giants, and a supporter of many charities and arts programs, as well as the SF Zoo. We are grateful to the wonderful staff and volunteers at Coming Home Hospice and Hospice by the Bay who took such fantastic care of her in her last months. We will miss her bright smile, her love and independent spirit. Memorial Service on Dec 11,2010 at 11:00 AM at Swedenborgian Church, 2107 Lyon St., SF. Donations may be sent to Coming Home Hospice or organizations of your choice. www.Legacy.com.
