Dear Mrs. Kapovich,
I am so sorry to hear about your husband Doug Kapovich. My family and I go to St.Thomas More church and Parisher John and his wife Claire said, Doug was a great inspiration in helping their son Brian, achieve his Eagle Scout Badge. I remember Doug was a very kind and caring person. I knew your husband from Troop 343 when it was at Daniel Webster School in Daly City, in the 60's and 70's when Mr. Fred Heron was the Scout Master.
My prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Sue, Lynne, Greg and Brooke:

I am truly sorry for your loss and I wanted you to know how much I adored him. He was my absolute favorite person I have ever worked with in my entire life. I respected, and admired him thoroughly. I used to beg him to let me join the scouts if I promised to pin up my hair and remove my makeup. He said that they would never fall for that and we enjoyed a lot of laughs regarding it. I am honored that he chose me to be the last friendly face he saw before his untimely departure. I will look for a huge campfire in the heavens when my time comes, because knowing Doug, he would make sure it was big enough to accommodate everyone who loves him.

Dear Sue, Greg, Brooke, and Lynne:

I adored working with Doug more than any other person I have ever known in my life. I highly respected and admired him as a co-worker, manager, family man, and Scout Master. I begged him repeatedly to "sneak" me in as a young boy who hasn't hit puberty (to explain my girly voice) He said they would never fall for that and we had lots of laughs over it. He truly was a hero to me and I will NEVER forget him or his family. I will honor the fact that he chose me to be the last friendly face he saw before his untimely departure. I will look for that great big campfire in the sky when my turn arrives because I know Doug will make it big enough to welcome us all. I will keep you all in my prayers.

My deep condolences to the Kapovich family. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Doug's passing. It seems like a short time ago that I saw him and talked with him. I've worked with Doug over the past seven years on claims adjusting work. There was something special about Doug. He had a very warm quality. Even when he had to tell a claimant that their claim was not covered, Doug did it in a way that was sincere and kind. He was tremendously good at his work, claims adjusting. He had an uncanny eye for evaluating conditions and identifying whether the claimed damage could have been caused by a particular event. He listened closely and asked good questions when things didn't add up. He was always on time. He had an smile that would come easily. Though my cumulative time with him was relative short, I will truly miss him.

Doug will certainly be missed by many. I have worked with him professionally for only 5 years, and my ServiceMaster peers have done so for up to 25 years...He is a well respected man in his industry, and outside of work with the Scouts. It was wonderful to be able to spend the time with him that we did.

Dear Kapovich Family,
Our youngest son James is heart broken at Doug's passing as he has just started as a Scout and Doug's kindness and leadership gave James self confidence and a sense of belonging that is very special. He is so happy to follow his oldest brother Ed into Troop 343 where Doug has created a place where boys learn to grow up as fine young men. We are all very sad and our prayers are with you.
