Felix Berenberg Obituary

Felix Berenberg Died unexpectedly November 12, 2010, of complications from heart failure. His wife of 25 years, Claire Axelrad, was by his side. Born September 19, 1949 in Brooklyn; came to San Francisco in 1971 to play guitar and study neurobiology. Earned a PhD in clinical psychology; residency at CPMC. Worked 26 years for San Mateo County: 18 in the hospital in-patient psychiatric unit; 8 in the County Jail. Felix also maintained a private practice with a specialty in child custody/collaborative divorce law. He loved Shakespeare, music, philosophy, critical thinking, crosswords and puns and was a kind, nourishing, empathic, wise, and loving husband to Claire and father to Noah. He is also survived by his father, Albert, and brothers, John and Spencer. Donations to nourish others are welcomed in his memory: San Francisco Food Bank, 900 Pennsylvania Ave., S.F., CA 94107;www.sffoodbank.org .
