Lauren Nelson Obituary

Lauren Marie Nelson The sunshine of our lives, Lauren Marie Nelson, 28, died in tragic car accident on September 29, 2010. Born August 20, 1982, Lauren was the beloved daughter of John and Vicki Nelson and sister of Mickey, Patrick, Ryan, and sister-in-law Cheryl. Her infectious giggle and genuine kindness touched all who knew her. Lauren attended Ross Grammar School and The Branson School. She received a degree in Communications from the University of Colorado in 2004. Lauren returned to her cherished Marin to pursue a career in Marketing, Public Relations, and Event Planning. She worked for such notable San Francisco firms as MacKenzie Communications, PlumpJack, and most recently Jeffrey/Scott Advertising. Besides being passionate about her work, Lauren constantly took on new challenges that would serve as outlets for her creativity-she taught herself graphic and web design, excelled at music mixing, lent her time and talents to various charities, and was never without an art project. Throughout her childhood, Lauren enjoyed an active outdoor lifestyle. Her beloved cat, Tahoe, was the namesake of her favorite place-where she spent many happy times at her family's vacation home. Lauren, above all else, you will be remembered as a thoughtful and joyous spirit. You brought us memories that will sustain us until we meet again. Forever you'll stay in our hearts. We hear your giggle. A Celebration of Laurens life will be held on Sunday, October 10th at 12:30 in the Students Common at the Branson School. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Grace's Kids, P.O. Box 594, Ross Ca. 94957 (www.graceskids.org) or to the favorite charity of your choice.

To the Nelson Family,
I am truly heartbroken to say goodbye to such a beautiful person. Lauren and I met as freshmen at Branson. I remember wishing that I had known her when we were children, because just looking at pictures of her and Mickey as ballerinas and joyful little girls warmed my heart and made me smile. Lauren was beautiful, loving, sweet, caring, kind, and smart, and she brought love and light into all of our lives. I will never forget that smile, her optimism, and of course, that infectious, amazing giggle.

The last message I got from Lauren simply said, “You are the sunshine of my life,” a quote from one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. That sweetness and spontaneous kindness is a perfect example of who Lauren was and what drew so many of us to her. I think it is obvious that it was Lauren who was the sunshine of so many of our lives.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this terrible time. I will carry Lauren with me in my heart for the rest of my life. She is unforgettable.

God Bless you,
Malika

To the Nelson family, my thoughts are with you. Lauren will always hold a special place in my heart. There is no one on this earth that I have laughed with as much as I did with Lauren. We have a million memories from college and afterwards that I will cherish forever. She was truly a light in my life and a genuine friend, and I can honestly say I would not be where I am today without her friendship and support. I am eternally grateful for her, and will miss her every day. All my love, Jen.
