I only knew Lauren for a few short years, and I always thought that I would have tons of time to get to know her better. She was so caring, outgoing, fun to be around and thoughtful. To the Nelson Family,
I am truly heartbroken to say goodbye to such a beautiful person. Lauren and I met as freshmen at Branson. I remember wishing that I had known her when we were children, because just looking at pictures of her and Mickey as ballerinas and joyful little girls warmed my heart and made me smile. Lauren was beautiful, loving, sweet, caring, kind, and smart, and she brought love and light into all of our lives. I will never forget that smile, her optimism, and of course, that infectious, amazing giggle.
The last message I got from Lauren simply said, “You are the sunshine of my life,” a quote from one of my favorite Stevie Wonder songs. That sweetness and spontaneous kindness is a perfect example of who Lauren was and what drew so many of us to her. I think it is obvious that it was Lauren who was the sunshine of so many of our lives.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this terrible time. I will carry Lauren with me in my heart for the rest of my life. She is unforgettable.

To the Nelson family, my thoughts are with you. Lauren will always hold a special place in my heart. There is no one on this earth that I have laughed with as much as I did with Lauren. We have a million memories from college and afterwards that I will cherish forever. She was truly a light in my life and a genuine friend, and I can honestly say I would not be where I am today without her friendship and support. I went to college with Lauren and over the four years I spent time with her talking, laughing and just enjoying one of the best times of our lives. I will miss her giggle, her spirit and the memory of all her kindness teaches me to be kind in all that I do. My condolences and heart goes out to the Nelson family.
