Ney Raphael Landry

Ney Landry was born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana on January 26th, 1917 to French Acadian ancestors. Growing restless early, he left his small farming town and joined the Navy in 1935. First stationed in San Diego, he was trained in radio communications and shipped out on the destroyer, S,S. Winslow. After traveling the world as a radio operator, he was stationed back in San Diego where he met and married Mary Ellen Knowles from Kingsley Iowa in 1938. In 1940 after his stint in the Navy, he joined the Federal Communications Commission as a radio engineer. Soon after, he started his climb up through the ranks in the Radio Intelligence Division, moving back and forth from the San Diego area to the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1958 he settled his family back in the Bay Area and took the reigns as Engineer In-Charge. Through hard work, dedication and honesty, he rose to the level of Regional Director, overseeing all forms of communications in the Western U.S., Hawaii, Alaska and Guam.
Retiring after 40 years of federal service in 1980, he spent his time volunteering at the San Leandro Police Department, traveling, visiting family and friends and playing lots of golf.
Ney was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Mary Landry, his three children, David (Casey) Landry, Stephen (Linda) Landry, and Melisa (Stephen) Morales; three grandchildren, Ry (Emily) Landry, Anna (Bryce Richardson) Morales and Rebecca Morales; and his sister Mercedes Landry Frazier.
Always energetic, loving and fun, he will be missed.
