Richard Graham Obituary

Richard Warren Graham Of Mill Valley passed away on November 1, 2010, at the age of 80. Born in Iowa City, Iowa, on August 22, 1930, he obtained his A.B. from Stanford University and his J.D. from Stanford School of Law. He practiced law in San Francisco for many years as a member and senior partner of Koster, Kohlmeier & Graham and as General Counsel, International Division of Foremost-McKesson, specializing in domestic and foreign investments and transactions. He was admitted to the bars of the State of California and the United States Supreme Court. Richard was the author of several published articles. He performed technical writing as the Law Editor for Commerce Clearing House, and was a member of the American Arbitration Association and other panels. His teaching career encompassed the Antilles School in the U. S. Virgin Islands, and as a faculty member of the San Francisco Law School and a lecturer at the European University of America. His military service was spent as a Counter-Intelligence Agent, serving with the U.S. Army C.I.C. in Stuttgart, Germany, after college. Richard was a man who pursued many interests, living life on his terms. He immersed himself in subjects of interest such as navigation, calculus, music and the French and Spanish languages. Richard liked being outdoors, whether it was playing tennis, hiking, or pursuing his passion for sailing and boating. Richard loved the sea and skippered a C&C 36-foot sloop on a two-year circumnavigation of the Caribbean. He traveled much of the world and lived for years in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. He is survived by his three children, Elizabeth, Thomas, and John, five grandchildren, and his brother Stephen. A celebration of his life will be held on November 13 from 2-5 pm at Left Bank, a brasserie in the Blue Rock Inn, in Larkspur. Directions can be found at www.leftbank.com.
