Robert Woods Obituary

Robert H. Woods Feb. 14, 1921 - Oct. 25, 2010 Born in San Francisco, Bob Woods had a good run well into his 80's when he fought a long, slow battle against Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Grace ("she's a real nugget", he would repeatedly say), his two proud sons, James and Steven, and two lovely grandchildren, Heather and Jordan. He was a Master Clocksman and loved to travel the world in search of collecting and repairing "that truly unique timepiece". Bob was raised on a farm in Rio Vista following his grandfather, learning and listening. Shortly before WWII, he was hired by Otis Elevator Co., where he rose to President of the Union and then Company Supervisor. During the War, he joined the Navy as an electrician's mate on the escort destroyer ship, USS Altamaha in the South Pacific. While on leave in San Francisco, he met his wife Grace who was an officer in the Navy. He was loved by all and respected greatly by the men who worked with him. He will always be remembered as a man with a warm smile! There will be a memorial service for Bob on November 6 at 1:00pm at Crosby N. Gray & Co. Funeral Home, 2 Park Road, Burlingame, immediately followed by a celebration of his life at Trapeze Restaurant, 266 Lorton Avenue, Burlingame. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association: P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011; (800) 272-3900.

I was once Mr. Woods housekeeper and he was truly a kind and
warm person. A heart of gold and always a warm smile. I sadly
had to stop working for him due to personal reasons. I am sad to
have learned of his passing but he had a wonderful life. Lynn
