Russell Brown Obituary
Passed away suddenly November 26, 2013 in San Francisco, California. He was born November 22, 1956 to Dempsey and Doris Brown in San Francisco.
Russell grew up in San Francisco. He graduated from Washington High School. He attended SF City College for a time. Following this, through his extraordinary effort and intelligence Russ received a first class FCC license while interning at Bay Area television and radio stations. He worked for KTSF from 1986 to 1998. Russ was also Chief Engineer of the Shopping Channel and consultant with many Bay Area television stations in their effort to switch from analog to digital TV. This effort was the impetus for his starting up the www.OnLineEngineer.org. website and passing on his insights through his blog and many instructive tutorials. As his career progressed he became a contractor for Sutro Tower. He was a regular contributor to Broadcast Engineer magazine and presented many papers at the annual National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, Nevada. This opportunity to exchange ideas with peers was a great joy to him.
Russ is survived by the love of his life, Maria, his son Patrick, his daughters, Joy and Bianca. his brothers Tony and David, his sisters Sheila and Mary, his lovely granddaughter Adoncia; and many nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his parents Dempsey and Doris and his brother Albert.
Funeral services will be held at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City, Thursday December 5 at 11am for viewing with memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice in his name.

I never met your husband and father, but I feel I knew him from the stories Eric brought home from work. He was SO proud of you, Patrick. We left STM 2years ago and I still remember Russell with his yellow jeep. He was very friendly and willing to help. We are sorry to hear about his passing. God bless you and your children.

My condolences to the Brown family, I'm an ironworker on the Golden Gate Bridge and I had heard about the unfortunate accident that resonated sorrow throughout the maintenance department , but I had no idea that he was someone that I knew as a little boy back at Lafayette elementary school, but I hadn't heard from Russ (we called him Rusty back then) in over 40 years but I still considered him a friend.Again I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the Brown family...
