Sept 12,1933-May 5, 2014
Clif passed away peacefully on May 5, 2014. He was comfortable and at peace, and was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Clif was born and raised in Berkeley, CA, graduated from Berkeley High School in 1951 and the University of California, Berkeley in 1955, where he played on the varsity basketball and tennis teams. After graduating, Clif enjoyed a successful career in the Direct Mail industry, and served on the Executive Board of the Direct Marketing Association for several years.
Clif will be remembered for his quick wit and sharp mind, and his love for all things 'Cal' – in particular his association with the San Francisco Grid Club and The Big C Society.
Clif was a devoted family man, married to his loving wife Betty, for 53+ years. Together they had four wonderful children, Mary, Susan, Clif Jr. and Sally. He is survived by wife Betty, daughters Mary Moore (husband Chris) and Susan Schwerdfeger (husband Stephen), son Clif Jr. and three lovely granddaughters, Linden Moore and Anna & Erika Schwerdfeger. He was preceded in death by daughter, Sally and grandson, Russell Schwerdfeger.
A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday, May 16th at 1:00PM at Santa Maria Church in Orinda, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Clif's name to The Big C Society – PO Box 5075, Berkeley, CA 94705-5075. Please visit www.hullschapel.com for more obituary information.

Oops, Sorry Betty. I wrote Mary and Clif with two fs. Just realized that besides my late Brother Clay being on the varsity tennis team with Clif in 1955, a classmate and friend from Lowell, Pete Beaver, was a fraternity brother of Clif in the Phi Upsilon house.

I knew Cliff Mayne as a tennis player, as my late brother Clay Bradley was on the Cal tennis team with Cliff. I saw him once again later in life at the Sunnyside Resort at Tahoe, as he was leaving his room. My heart goes out to Mary and his family. God Bless You, Rick Bradley
