Stephen Lewis Mayne, a devoted family man and talented auto mechanic, passed away in Dayton on March 3, 2026. He was born on April 11, 1950, in Dayton, and his life journey was a testament to the values of hard work, generosity, and love.

Stephen graduated from Bellbrook High School in 1968 and dedicated his career to the automotive field until his retirement. Known for his kind demeanor and willingness to lend a helping hand, he touched the lives of many with his patience and sense of humor. Friends and colleagues admired him not only for his exceptional skills as a mechanic but also for his ability to light up a room with his laughter.

Outside of work, Stephen had a deep passion for drag racing, an interest that brought him immense joy and excitement. This hobby was more than just a pastime; it was a cherished part of his identity, alongside his love for his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne, with whom he shared a loving marriage for 56 years. Stephen was a proud father to Stephen Lewis Mayne II, Amber Mayne, and Michael Mayne, and he treasured every moment spent with his beloved granddaughter, Molly Mayne. His siblings, E. "Fred" Mayne, brother-in-law Virgil Hall, mother in law Eve Sumner along with multiple nieces, nephews, and friends, will continue to carry his memory forward.

Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Dorothy Mayne, step father Al Gentry, his sister Hazel Gail Hall, and his brother Larry Mayne. While his passing leaves a profound void, his spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering kindness will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him. As a family, they will hold dear the values he imparted and the love he shared, ensuring his legacy continues through future generations.
