I just was told by my lovely friend Anthony that Paul passed away. After I left my previous employer who connected me w Paul and he became my mentor on audio technologies and I received a wonderful friend with Paul and because I changed industries, we got lost to each other and also due to the distance west Coast to Germany. This really is very sad news.
I m really very sad to learn Paul is not with us anymore. He was a real good friend to me.
Sincerely
Alexk

Paul was such a big part of my school years in Boca, and then when we reconnected many years later- He was just such a KIND, brilliant, wonderful friend. Can't believe he has been gone (but NEVER forgotten) for so many years now. He's in my heart!

I think about Paul often....he was such a unique and good soul. I spoke of him to a number of people at our 50th High School Reunion last year. I can picture his smiling face, and remember his kindness and towering intellect! Paul- I hope you KNOW when you are being remembered, wherever you are, and I hope we will meet again.

I met Paul in 1970 when we were both Notre Dame students living in Morrissey Hall. What a smart, interesting man he was. We connected through our shared love of classical music, and I will always treasure his inviting me to his room the night Igor Stravinsky died for a memorial service Paul hosted in honor of the great composer's passing. I really enjoyed attending musical events with Paul; he was so widely read and loved talking about music, politics, current events. He introduced me to his many friends on campus and enriched my college experience far more than I was ever able to tell him, so here is a belated thank-you, Paul.
I just learned of his death from the alumni notes in Notre Dame Magazine. My thoughts today are of Paul and the many people he befriended and mentored. I feel fortunate to have been one of them.

We at OPPO Digital are deeply saddened by the loss of Paul. He was an acquaintance for many years, but recently was so kind to give our company personal tours of Skywalker Ranch.
His knowledge, kindness, and undiminished enthusiasm were second to none. We know he will be deeply missed and memory cherished by family, friends, and colleagues alike.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Paul's passing. Paul and I met back in the mid-1970s when he was working at a high-end audio equipment store (Audio Specialists) in South Bend IN, and I was in high school. He was such a knowledgeable person and so willing to share. He taught me many things about electronics, classical music, photography, mechanics, and more. We enjoyed skiing together and did many ski trips in the Midwest, as well as a week long trip to Mt Tremblant in Quebec that I remember well (high temperature for the week was 19 degrees below zero). I ended up moving to Denver Colorado to go to college and Paul moved out some time afterwards--we continued spending time together on the ski slopes, etc. My wife and I were excited for him when he decided to move from Colorado to pursue the opportunity with LucasFilms in California--it sounded like a well-deserved, perfect fit for him. Unfortunately, we lost touch after he moved--it was only by chance of sorting through some old slides yesterday that I came across a picture of me with Paul, so my wife and I tried to track him down and heard of his passing.
He was a true friend and so very generous--always giving of his time, and passing on his possessions to make others happy. I so hope that Paul was happy and at peace at the time of his passing. He was a good soul that made this world a better place because he was in it. The memories of our times together will not be forgotten. Paul, rest in peace.

Paul was very kind to me as a young techie, patiently explaining various concepts and was never condescending. I use Paul as a model for working with younger tech people. Thank you Paul for all that you did, I really appreciated it.

Been a long long time. Paul and I were best friends In High School. Glad to see is life took him in a direction he was always interested in. He was a great guy then. Wish I could of made it to the service but got home 8:30 p.m. last night and could not get on the red eye to SF. Great to hear all the positive things about him.

I am so very sad about this loss of ours. Paul was such a nice guy, always, and I was privileged to have been able to work with him for 10 years. All of my interactions with him were only ever warm and kind. He was a consummate professional who truly cared about the people he was supporting. Rest in peace, Paul.

As a high school student, I bought my first piece of "real" hifi gear from Paul at Audio Specialists in South Bend.
Many years later, we reconnected when I attended THX training at the ranch. He was a great guy, with seemingly infinite patience.
He will be missed by all who knew him.

I was devastated to hear of his passing. We hadn't spoken in the longest time but that did not mean he didn't hold a special place in my heart.
I had the great pleasure of working with Paul on Episode II and III of Star Wars in Sydney, Australia. Paul was extremely kind to me and helped me navigate my way through my first feature film in an EA capacity - something I will never forget and remain grateful for.
I remember Paul introducing me to the world of Harry Potter. The first novel had just been released in the US. Paul told me about the magical story with such passion and was amazed I hadn't heard about it.
A week later a parcel from Amazon arrived in the Sydney JAK production office in with a note from Paul. He asked me to read at least the first paragraph. That night I took it home and read the entire book! The next three editions arrived at my home via Amazon with a note from Paul.
So incredibly thoughtful and such a lovely thing to do, so generous. What a class act.
I have subsequently remained a huge fan of Harry Potter and was privileged to work on their Australian exhibition release. I never stopped thinking about Paul and our connection to the brand - I now deeply regret not reaching out sooner to remind him what an important role he played.
He truly was the loveliest person and it was a privilege to have been in his orbit.
To Paul's family The Wimmers and closest friends and work family, my heart and prayers are with you.
With love, Jacqui Louez Schoorl, Sydney Australia

I worked with Paul at Skywalker Ranch relating to Ranch moves. He always got the job done in a quiet manner, never a complaint. I agree wholeheartedly with Leslie Ann Jones -- he did embody what was so great about working at Lucasfilm, when all of us were still located on the Ranch. He will be dearly missed.

Paul and I shared a love for great sound and great music. I will miss our conversations about all things audiophile. I will also miss his warmth and good humor. To me he always embodied the best of what it meant to work for Lucasfilm.
Rest in Peace

I met Paul over 9 years ago. During my time at Lucasfilm, he was always a pleasure to work with. He had so many stories and experiences that he'd share with anyone willing to listen. I can't believe he's gone. He will be greatly missed.

I met Paul in Elementary School where his Dad was Principal. So---that was 1959 or so. They lived down at the end of my street, and I spent plenty of time with Paul. We did joint projects in school, some theatre-related stuff too. He used to take me out on his little Boston Whaler on the Intracoastal. When I visited SF about (at least) 10 years ago, he gave me and Glenn Stover and Gerard Schulz a PRIVATE personal tour of Skywalker Ranch. I was always in awe of his intellect and genuine NICENESS. I am SO shocked to hear of his passing. I like to think we are still young enough to say that he was just TOO YOUNG to go. I have many many good memories of Paul.
