PHYLLIS FIGUEIREDO CHAVES Long time Colton resident, age 86, born and raised in Santa Monica, CA, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, in Redlands, CA, surrounded by family. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and was past president of St. Joseph Guild. She belonged to the Colton Woman's Club, Native Daughters and Parapsychology of Riverside. She is the daughter of the late Mayme Soares Figueiredo and the late Capitain George Soares Figueiredo of the Santa Monica Police Department. Also, survived by her sister, Marie Irwin of San Diego. She is the wife of the late Joseph A. Chaves of Colton and Redlands. She is survived by her son, Michael J. Chavez of Riverside; and her daughter, Georgina Chaves Tiedemann of Yucaipa; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Colton Funeral Home, 1272 N. La Cadena Dr., Colton, CA 92324 (909) 285-0570, on June 17, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. Interment at Green Acres Memorial Park, Garden of the Resurrection, in Bloomington.
