ALICE KIRALLA Obituary

ALICE KIRALLA April 2, 1922 - November 25, 2010 Alice was born into a family of farmers in the hillside town of Douma, Lebanon, on April 22, 1922. At the age of 24 she left home to broaden her opportunities and joined her Aunt Ida in St. John, Newfoundland, Canada. Through letter writing she met her husband Eddy, whose family was from the same hometown of Douma. He traveled to Newfoundland and proposed to Alice. They were married on September 25, 1949. They returned to San Bernardino, California, where Eddy lived. Alice was soon raising their three children, learning about the American culture, staying active in St. Johns Episcopal Church, and being involved in the schools her children attended -- all the time keeping her Lebanese heritage alive. Alice was born with the quality of thinking about and helping others in every way possible. She seemed to do this in an effortless way. She could sense what others needed and was there to help. She was a tireless gardener who taught many people the love of gardening. In addition to feeding everyone from the mailman to friends, she loved to give away her cultivated plants and collected seeds. She will be missed. She is survived by a daughter; two sons; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at St. Johns Episcopal Church in San Bernardino, CA, on December 2, 2010, at 10:00 A.M.
