Henry Garcia

January 27, 1929 - October 6, 2010 Henry Garcia, a beloved husband and loving father and grandfather, was surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully on October 6, 2010. Henry was born in Santa Monica on January 27, 1929, to Guadalupe and Vincenta Garcia. Henry grew up in the San Fernando Valley and graduated from Los Angeles Trade Technical School. After graduation, he worked at Industrial Electronic Engineers (IEE) in Van Nuys. Unbeknownst to him that while working at IEE he would meet his future wife; in his own words she was "a pretty woman that he looked upon admiringly so". On May 10, 1969, Henry and Susan were married at The Little Brown Church in North Hollywood, which was the beginning of their 41-year marriage. After leaving IEE, Henry started his own business in sub-contract manufacturing. From there he went on to develop his successful medical instrument company (called ECA) in Newbury Park. The medical tool that he personally designed and manufactured is used in pacemaker surgeries worldwide to this day. Henry's work was his passion and he considered it his hobby. His devoted love was for his family, which he held dear to his heart. Henry enjoyed his beautiful backyard with its many trees and birds; his simple pleasures were visiting and joking with his family, especially feeding his dogs. Henry is survived by his wife, Susan, and their daughter Tami and her husband Jon Osborn. Henry is also survived by his first wife, Estella Magdaleno, and their five children and grandchildren: Olivia, her daughter Christine, and son Tony; Carol, her son Michael, and daughter Vanessa; David and his wife Denise; Edward and his daughter Jasmine; John and his wife, Valerie, and stepson Scott. Also sharing the loss are his sister Cruz Tayahua and her husband Jess; brothers Lupe and his wife Felicitas, Chris and his wife Herta. He was preceded in death by his brother Jess and sisters Pocha and Martha. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The Rosary Service will be held Friday, October 15th, at 7:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist De La Salle, 10738 Hayvenhurst, Granada Hills.Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 16th, 10:30 A.M., at St. John the Baptist De La Salle at 10738 Hayvenhurst, Granada Hills, with Internment following at the San Fernando Mission.
