IRENE KELSEY Obituary

Age 83. Irene passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 24, 2010. Born in Escanaba, Michigan, to Arsene and Mabel Beauchamp, she was the youngest of nine children. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Besides her dear friends, she is survived by her four children, Gary Kelsey, Janis Kelsey, Mark Kelsey, and Jeanne Kelsey Whitney; three granddaughters, Megan Whitney, Crystal Kelsey, and Natalie Geist; and several nieces and nephews. Irene was admitted in 1945 to St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Bloomington, Illinois, as part of the Cadet Nurse Corps program. After graduation, she moved to California, where she worked at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Van Nuys and Long Beach, and then worked at San Fernando Community Hospital for 31 years before retiring in 1990. Irene will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew her. Services are private. Memorial gifts may be made to MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity), 10641 N.
