John MacFarland Obituary

MACFARLAND-John Robert MacFarland, Born October 10th 1920 in Zanesville, Ohio to James and Emma MacFarland. He considered himself a native Californian he said because he was conceived and spent most of his formative years here. On his own at the age of fifteen, he completed high school and some college while supporting himself. He enlisted in the Air Force when Pearl Harbor was bombed and served as a Master Sergeant stationed in England throughout the war. This is where he met and married the love of his life, Mary. They shared Sixty-one years together before Mary passed away in 2005. John's civilian career included working for the Santa Fe Railroad, the Auto Club of Southern California and Thirty plus years with Allstate Insurance Co. John was very active in his retirement years and he volunteered many hours at the Pasadena Senior Center. He loved working and interacting with other people. He will be sorely missed by his children, Jeanette Wilson of Carlsbad and Joanne (Rick) Verre of Monrovia, his grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Wilson, Jessica Winn, David Verre (Kim Allen), Daniel Verre (Heather Arizaga) and great grandchildren Serafina Wilson and Tyler Winn as well as his very special friend and companion Madge Diamant. John's memorial service will be held at Cabot and Sons, 27 Chestnut Street, Pasadena on Tuesday December 7th 2010 at 2:00pm.

John was a very good friend,i met him while working for Willard in La Crescenta he would visited his friend and bring cookies made by his wife Mary .
He was A HUMBLE MAN!!!
