LOUISE NADINE WALK

LOUISE WALK Obituary

Louise Walk died peacefully on Monday, November 8 in Paso Robles, California. Louise was born in Ontario, California on March 28, 1917. She was delivered in the family home on the dining room table by her father, Dr. Calvert Emmons. She attended elementary and junior high school in Ontario and was known as a girl who loved school. She was spunky, spirited, athletic and a real "tomboy." While a freshman at Chaffey High School, Louise approached a handsome boy at a football game. That moment would change her life forever. Louise and Bill Walk dated through high school and attended USC together. She was involved in the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and many campus organizations. Bill and Louise were also voted "Campus Couple of USC" by their peers. Following their marriage and while at USC law school, Bill was called to serve his country. As a Navy officer, the couple moved to Norfolk, Virginia where their first child, Barbara, was born. Following this assignment, the family was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. At the close of World War II, the family returned to Ontario, where Bill began his law practice. The family soon expanded with the birth of a son, Bill. Louise did everything to ensure that all in her family thrived. She was a classroom room mother and PTA officer. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader. She attended all of her children's athletic, dance and school events. She was active in the local Congregational Church, Friday Club, Republican Women's Club and the Cancer Society. Nothing was too big or small for Louise when it came to supporting her family and the community she loved. Louise joined her husband as he became involved in the many avenues of Rotary. He was elected to be the President of Rotary International in 1970. Together they traveled to more then 50 countries around the world to carry out the mission of Rotary. When Bill retired as a judge, they spent their later years traveling through the United States, Mexico and Canada in their RV. A family favorite was camping in Mexico. Louise always had a great love for her country and a strong faith in the Lord. She lived life to its fullest and was grateful for her good fortune. She loved sports and "listened" as the USC Trojans beat Arizona on Saturday and to the Lakers on Sunday. "Fight On." Louise was preceded in death by "the love of her life," Bill in 1989, and her two brothers, Dr. Lowell Emmons and Calvert Alexis Emmons and their wives. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Ellerbroek (Bart), Paso Robles; son Bill Walk (Patty), Paso Robles; grandsons Billy Walk, Pasadena, Jimmy Walk (Kathryn), Virginia Beach, and many nieces and nephews. Louise's family would like to extend its special thanks and gratitude to the staff members of Creston Village and Hospice for the compassion, devotion and love given to Louise. Louise will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Bill at the Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario. She asked for a silent prayer and best wishes on her journey and to cherish and love your family and friends. Dearest Barbara and Family,

I just recently found out about the passing of your mother. You have my deepest sympathy and condolences. I have great memories of her caring, kindness, thoughtfulness and love for people. I really appreciated her great spirit and encouragement. She followed me throughout the different stages of my life. I especially appreciated her note to me and my mother regarding sending you the newspaper clipping of my wedding. I do remember( correct me if I'm wrong ) Mrs. Wall's (Kemp) praises towards your family. She was one of my neighbors while growing up. She loved working with your mom and dad in your household. Your dad had a great presence, whenever I was around him at different campus functions. I look forward to seeing you at our class reunion. Sincerely With Fondness and Love, Edwina Carr Alexander
