LUCILLE CREWS Obituary
LUCILLE AEOLIS HAMILTON CREWS Age 90, of Oceanside, California, died September 9, 2010, at an Oceanside care facility. She was born October 31, 1919 to parents Santford Richard Hamilton (d. 1943) and Lillian Louise Holmes Hamilton (d. 1964). She was preceded in death by her parents and two half brother - Kenneth Glen Hamilton and Ollie Gay Henry Hamilton (mother: Jewel Celestine Black Hamilton); five full brothers and sisters including Paul Malcom Hamilton, Stuart Roe Hamilton, Doyle Richard Hamilton, Catherine Anne Hamilton Moses. She is survived by a sister, Doris Elby Hamilton Lynn. Mrs. Crews and her husband, Jesse Roy Crews (d. 2/2/2004) arrived in San Fernando Valley, California, with their children in 1949. Prior to California, they lived in Hope and Texarkana, Arkansas. She moved to Aegis at Shadowridge, Oceanside, California, in 2004. She returned to complete high school studies at age 50 from Reseda High School, with a General Education Diploma, then attended Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California, and received her licenses for hair dressing and real estate by which she had two successful careers. Commonly known as "Lucy", her engaging personality endeared her to many; love of knowledge heralded her quest for education and spurred her kind interest in others and their future. Lucy and Roy were married for 68 years. Their son, Dr. Jerry Roy (Nancy) resides in Windsor, Colo., and daughter, Charlotte Ann (William) Gereghty resides in Fallbrook, California. Their two grandsons, and parents of their seven great grandchildren are: Dr. Michael Jerry (Helen) Crews of Greeley, Colo., (sons Kyle, Daniel, Michael and daughter Paige); Dr. Kent Roy (Kerry) Crews of Ft. Collins, Colo., (son Joshua and daughters Kelly and Hailey). Grandsons, Mike and Kent, spent many of their childhood summers with "Nino" and "Poppa" and were treated like royalty. Nino and Poppa, for the Crews family, are the great example, and we are all better for having had first hand experiences of their graciousness and goodness. We were blessed to be part of their lives. Both Lucy and Roy will forever be cherished, loved and remembered. In appreciation, we would like to acknowledge Aegis at Shadowridge staff and caregivers for their excellent attentiveness to our mother. Their interest to make life easier for Lucy during her journey through Alzheimer's disease was always evident. Elizabeth Hospice's all-encompassing knowledge of Alzheimer's provided quality and sensitive care during her disease process and especially during her last hours. We are deeply grateful. Memorial service pending at Aegis at Shadowridge, Oceanside, California. Contributions to Elizabeth Hospice of Escondido, California, in Lucille's honor will be greatly appreciated. We deeply appreciate Cremation Services, Vista, California, for their kind and thoughtful ways during this trying time. Lucille is interred at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside, California.
