MARGUERITTE LEHMANN Obituary

Margueritte peacefully passed away at age 97 on November 24, 2010. She was born on September 8, 1913 in El Centro, CA to Pierre and Maude Audureau, and grew up in LaVerne, CA. Independent and an avid learner, she got her teaching degree from State Teachers College in Santa Barbara, CA in 1935. She then taught school for many years -starting at a one room schoolhouse called Honda School near Lompoc, CA. In 1944, she met a handsome Army captain, Arno Emil Lehmann, at Camp Cooke and they married on January 2, 1946 in Ann Arbor, Michigan after he came back from fighting WWII in Europe. They settled in Pomona, CA and raised two sons, Arno Pierre and Steven Greer Lehmann. In 1969, she went back to school and received her Master of Arts degree from Pasadena College and then taught middle school in Pomona for many years until retirement. She loved to travel -including trips to Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Europe and had friends all over the world that she communicated with on a frequent basis. In 1996, she moved to Arizona to be closer to her son's family and her grandchildren... but still independent, lived on her own to the end. She is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Arno Pierre (and Carol) and Steven (and Ann), grand- children Alissa and Stefanie Lehmann and Morgan Castagnola. Private Interment will take place on Dec 2, 2010 at the Pomona Valley Cemetery.
