Mary Knox Obituary

Mary Cecilia Knox 1919 - 2010 Mary Cecilia Knox, loving mother and grandmother (Bopchi) died of natural causes on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at her home in Long Beach, CA where she lived for 56 years. Mary was born on September 8, 1919 to William and Emilia Karpowicz in the coal mining town of Shenandoah, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Kenneth I. Knox. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce K. Elsner; son, Daniel K. Knox; and grandchildren, Warren Smitheran, Travis and Haley Knox. Mary, a Navy wife, worked for 30 years as a medical transcriptionist for the Long Beach Veterans Hospital where she made many lifelong friends. After retirement, Mary became a homemaker known for her cooking, celebratory toasts and her beautifully crocheted afghans and tablecloths. She will be interred at Forest Lawn, Cypress next to her husband. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, December 5, 2010 from 11am-3pm in her home.
