Neil Beymer Obituary

Neil Beymer 1914 - 2010 Neil Alvin Beymer passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2010. Neil was born on April 29, 1914 in Lindsay, CA and spent most of his early life in Riverside where he met the love of his life, Janet Bryson in junior high school. They were married in 1940 and moved to Long Beach in 1947 where he was hired by Shell Oil Company and spent his career there as a chemist. Neil doted on his family which includes two daughters, Jane (Gary) Brooks and Barbara (Harry) Hauge; four grandchildren, Sharon Brooks, Michael Brooks, Heather (Christopher) Shea and Robyn (Travis) Bergmans; three great-grandsons, Bryson, Liam and Owen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his four brothers and sisters. Neil was an avid golfer who also liked to spend his spare time following the Angels, reading, and working with his hands. He and his wife forged many strong friendships during the years they lived in their Bixby Knolls neighborhood and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. Neil was a very kind, quiet and caring person who was always available to help out in many ways and touched many lives during his wonderful 96 years. We will celebrate his life on Saturday, November 27 at 2:00 p.m. at California Heights Methodist Church with a reception following at the Bixby Knolls Towers. We like to think that God must have had an opening for a twosome on the first hole of the heavenly golf course, because Neil's frequent golf partner, Fidel, also passed away on Friday. We will see you on the 19th hole!! We love you and will miss you dearly. Your loving wife and family. A memorial in Neil's name has been established at California Heights United Methodist Church, 3759 Orange Ave., Long Beach, CA 90807.
