Nick Economides Obituary

Nick Economides Nick S. Economides passed away peacefully on his 64th wedding anniversary, September 29, with his family at his side. Born in November 1919 on the Island of Cyprus, Nick, his wife and two-year-old son immigrated to the U.S. in 1949, settling in Long Beach where he attended Long Beach City College. He soon began a long career in aerospace as a quality engineer for both Douglas Aircraft Company and Hughes Aircraft Company, from where he retired in 1982. He is survived by his wife, Mary, and two sons, George and John; three grandchildren, April, Elyse and Laura; and one great grandchild, Audrey. The Trisagion service is at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 7, at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 5761 E. Colorado St. The Memorial service is Friday, October 8, 10 a.m. at the church, followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Assumption GOC and designate to "Third Building."

Dear Mary and familly, I was so sadden to hear of Nick's passing. He was a wonderful husband, father and a great neighbor. I have many fond memories of growing up on Chatwin Ave.God Bless you all, may He hold you close at this time of loss. Love and Hugs to you all.
