Ramon Garcia Obituary

Ramon Zavala Garcia Ramon Zavala Garcia , who came to this country as a child during the Mexican Revolution and who headed a large and loving family, died on Sunday, October 31, 2010. He was 98. Mr. Garcia was born on August 29, 1912 in Michoacan, Mexico, and arrived in the United States with his family in 1917. He became a citizen of the United States of America in 1948. He was a graduate of Banning High School in Wilmington, CA and worked for Atlantic Richfield Oil Corporation for over 30 years. He was active in Torrance Elks Lodge No. 1948 in the 1960s and 1970s, and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Garcia was a longtime resident of Wilmington and Long Beach before moving to Oceanside and later Seal Beach. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed golfing, gardening and the ocean. He will be greatly missed. Mr. Garcia is survived by his daughters Sylvia Rios and Yolanda Garcia; grandchildren Delia, Linda, Elizabeth and Peter; and great-grandchildren Lauren, Miranda, Peter, Caitlin, Katherine and Andres. He is also survived by his stepson, Paul Urista; stepdaughter, Rosemarie Cesena; grandchildren Andrea, Crystal, Yvonne and LaVonne; and great-grandchildren Amber, Brittany, Shiane and Racenne; brother, Luis Garcia; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Maria del Refugio Quinones Flores Garcia in 1940, and by his wife Mary Amaya Garcia in 2001. A rosary and funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, November 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 5100 E.
