ROBERT GLADSTONE PREST

79 years old, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, peacefully at home with his wife and family at his side from lung cancer. He was born November 14, 1930, to William and Nellie Prest in Buffalo, New York. He is preceded in death by his daughter Suzanne R. Wise (Dan). He is survived by his Wife of 60 years, Anne. They married shortly after he was discharged from the Navy submarine service, serving on the USS Sirago 485 also survived by sons Robert C. Prest (Annie), Medford, Oregon, Michael Fox (Sharon) and daughters Barbara Gonzales (Tony); Cindy DeChaine (Rob), grandsons Matthew Wise (Jennifer), Zachary and Jacob Prest, and grand- daughter Jennifer O'Neill (John) and his great-grandchildren Scarlett and Alexander Wise, and his beloved dog Sadie. Also survived by nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Bob graduated from Amherst High School in Snyder, NY. and attended University of Southern California. Bob had his own Amoco gas station which he and his wife ran in Buffalo, NY .He then worked for Dunlop Tire and Rubber Co for 9 years before moving to California. In 1960 he went to work for Atlas Sponge Rubber Co. where he became Vice President for over 30 years. Bob belonged to the Pasadena Lodge # 272 F & AM Pasadena and was a 49 year member He was also a member of Zula Grotto in Ontario and a Past Patron 3 times in Upland Chapter Order of the Easter Star and once in Star of Pomona Chapter, Pomona. In years prior to becoming ill he loved going skeet shooting with his family. In later years when he was no longer able to continue on with that hobby he went to collecting Pez dispensers which he did with his daughter Barbara and granddaughter Jenny. Bob was preceded in death by his sisters Doris Pembrock, Violet Miller and brother William Prest, Jr. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bob's memory to the American Cancer Society, 915 N. Grand Ave., Covina, CA. 91724 or to the Inland Valley Humane Society,500 Humane Way, Pomona, CA 91766 Memorial services will be held at Todd Memorial Chapel, 570 N.Garey Ave. Pomona, CA on Dec.4th at 2:00pm.
