ROBERT SWANSON Obituary

Born on September 5, 1927 and passed away on October 12, 2010 at home with his family. Bob was born in Galesburg, Illinois to Ruth Norma Anderson and Lester Leroy Swanson and moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1940. After his service in the Navy, he started a very successful construction company with his two brothers in which he was extremely proud. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the San Fernando Valley Old West Shrine Club. He traveled the world, loved being with his family and passed down numerous family traditions to his children. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joy; and his sister, Gloria Mae Brown. He is survived by his two brothers, John Lester Swanson and Charles Lewis Swanson. He is also survived by his four children, Don Raymond Swanson (Anne), Michael Alan Swanson (Debbie), Robert Lee Swanson II (Dana), and Melody Beth Meyer (Dave); 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, October 18, 2010, 11:00 a.m., at Oakwood Memorial Park located at 22601 Lassen St., Chatsworth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3160 Geneva St., Los Angeles, CA 90020; (213) 388-3151.
