Stanley Steenbock Obituary

Stanley Steenbock Stanley R. Steenbock was born in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1923 to Ruth and Richard Steenbock. He received his professional education at the University of Southern California where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 1948. His education was interrupted during World War II when he served four years in the United States Marine Corps, assigned to the Second Marine Division in the Central Pacific. Upon graduation from college, he was a radio news announcer in the Middle West, on the staff of General Motors Corporation, the California State Personnel Board, the Los Angeles County Flood Control District and the Los Angeles County Chief Administrative Office. He retired as director of public affairs for the county in 1981. During his retirement, he continued a consulting practice, which included serving as press officer in a major political campaign and editing and publishing a retiree newsletter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Bardin. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Michele Morrison (Donald) of Banchory, Scotland; grandchildren, Mhairi, Jamie, Robbie and Douglas; as well as nephews and nieces. Interment will take place at Green Hills, Palos Verdes on Monday, January 3 at 10am, followed by a church service at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church of Long Beach, 6201 E. Willow St. at 12 noon, reception will be immediately after the service. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity or St. Gregory's memorial fund.

I am sorry tco hear about Stan. Friends in LA try tc keep me posted. Please excuse the style of the e-mail, but remember how much I treasured Stan and his side-kick, Bob Baker. I benefited greatly from their sage advice and friendship.
