Grace Elliott Obituary

SHELBY - Mrs. Grace Smith Elliott, 86, of 5106 Hawthorne Lane, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.
She was born in Cleveland County on Jan. 17, 1924, to the late Lester Smith and Selva Hicks Smith. She retired form Uni-versal Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the United Methodist Women and the church choir. In her younger years she taught piano. Grace's enjoyment was spending time with her precious children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Adlai Elliott Jr.; brother, Joe Smith; and sister, Ann Elliott Tottle.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Nicholas S. Elliott and wife, Judy, of Simpsonville, S.C.; daughter, Connie E. Dedmon and husband, Roy Lee, of Shelby; brother, Don Smith of Belwood; two sisters, Hilda Crotts and Geraldine Bassett, both of Char-lotte; and seven grandchildren, Jill Reames and husband, Micheal, and children Jackson, Andy and Meredith of Yorktown, Va.; Nick Elliott Jr. and wife, Sabrina, and children Jacob and Josh of Fountain Inn, S.C.; Kristal Speakman and husband, Shawn, and son Christopher of Greenville, S.C.; Mikelle Porter and husband, Christopher, of Taylors, S.C.; Lizzie Grace Dedmon Uri-zar and husband, Carlos, of Spartanburg, S.C.; Sarah Gwen Dedmon Caple and husband, Benjamin, of Fort Hood, Texas; and AnnaLee Victoria Dedmon of Shelby.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 21, 6 to 8 p.m., at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
Funeral: Friday, Jan. 22, 2 p.m., Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church

Burial: Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery following the service
