Its hard to believe its been 10 years
since John went home to our Lord. There is not a day goes by,that I don't think about him ,working with him, listening to his stories and being a friend. I was just his assistant but I was a part of history, for those years. Traveling with him to his last trips on his Baseball Farewell trip was a true blessing. A truly great Man. Thank you John for the memories. Judy

John Henry Moss was a person I greatly admired. He had giant-sized visions and was able to lead people to join him in the work toward the fulfillment of these visions. I'm grateful for every opportunity I had to chat with and work with him. I already miss him. Thanks, Mr. Moss, for all you did to make our county a better place.

To the family and survivors: I have known John Henry since 1963 when I first served as General Manager of the Gastonia Pirates of the WCL and John served as President. He was one of the most influential leaders in Minor League baseball and served his community as Mayor with equal dignity and leadership qualities unsurpassed by anyone I have ever had the priviledge of knowing and/or working with. May you now rest from your labors of love, Kings Mountain and baseball.

I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy in your time of great sorrow. Only those who have lost a loved one can know the depth of your feelings. I have experienced the death of my parents, a child and my grandparents. I know how difficult these times can be for those left behind. Mr. Moss hired my father (Tom McDevitt) as the Chief of Police in Kings Mountain in 1968. He also took me to many ball games as a young man. He was a good man and will be truly missed.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you. God bless you and your family during this difficult time and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I worked with Mr. Moss last summer. It was one of the best summers of my life. Like O.J. said, he told all kinds of stories about baseball. He always kept things interesting. He did so much for Cleveland County in his time. I hope that the residents of this county will eventually realize what he did for the economy. He was one of the greatest men I have ever had the chance to meet. Getting to travel with Mr. Moss to baseball games was one of the things that I will miss the most. It was fun just being around this great man. I will truly miss him.

I had the privilege of spending very day for an entire summer with Mr. Moss. For a baseball player and fan, there was no better experience for me than to hear the stories and talk about the game with him. It didn't take long before I realized that John Henry Moss was more than just a baseball legend, he was also one of the greatest men I've ever known. I am so greatful for the chance to get close to him, and I hope that everybody from the area gets a chance to hear the stories and learn about the man that was. I'm going to miss him.
