KINGS MOUNTAIN - "Mayor" John Henry Moss, 90, of 504 Crescent Hill Road, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
He was born in Cleveland County, to the late Manuel A. Moss and Amanda Oates Moss. He was the husband for 46 years to the late Elaine Caroline Beilke Moss. He was mayor of the City of Kings Mountain for 24 years, president of the South Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Clubs for 50 years and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain. He served in the United States Army.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Moss Johnson and Elizabeth "Lib" Dalton.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mayor Rick Murphrey has ordered that all flags in the City of Kings Mountain to fly at half mast in honor and in memory of Mayor John Henry Moss.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday, July 5, 4 p.m. until, at Harris Funeral Home.
Memorial Service: Monday, July 6, 11 a.m., First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain
