Cleo Pernici Obituary
Shreveport, LA - Ann Cleo McCathern Pernici, 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, at Osborn Funeral Home with Fr. Joseph Kallookalam presiding. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a charter member. Officiating will be Fr. Michael Thang'wa and Father Richard J. Lombard will pay tribute to Cleo. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave.
Cleo was a native of Shreveport and from the age of 12 she and her two sisters were raised at the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston. She graduated Ruston High School, where she was crowned Homecoming Queen, and later graduated LA Tech University. She was employed by United Gas and also worked as a medical secretary at the Highland Clinic. She was founder and co-owner Shreveport Gymnastic Supply Co. with her husband, Frank.
Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pernici, Jr.; parents, D. and Laura McCathern; brother, Mack McCathern; sisters, Helen Osentoski, Clara Waguespack and Ramona Storey. She is survived by her daughters, Margaret Catanese and husband, Anthony and Lauren Jones and husband, Jerald; four grandchildren, Ashley Carnahan and husband, Shane, Kristen Catanese, Joshua Jones and wife, Leah, and Casey Jones; three great grandchildren, Chandler Carnahan, Harrison and Georgia Ann Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Jones, Casey Jones, Shane Carnahan, Sam Pernici, Perry Pernici and Rick Pernici.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Ruston Methodist Children's Home, St. Joseph Catholic Church or charity of choice.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Kay, Diane, Eartha, Dee, Kallie, Dr. Richard Haynie, SPD Emergency Medical Team and Christus Schumpert Highland.

I am so sorry for your loss. aunt cleo was my favorite aunt.
She was so funny. We loved when she would visit us. I know she will be deeply missed by all. We know aunt cleo and my mom (claire) are together again in Heaven.

So sorry for your loss. I taught dance in Shreveport for many years and knew both Mr. and Mrs. Pernici very well. They were both such delightful people to do business with. I hope you take comfort in knowing Mrs. Pernici is wrapped in the loving arms of our Lord,Jesus Christ.Your family will be in my prayers. I believe we were related on my mother's side of the family. My mother was Donna Henson- Fulghum. I remember us visiting with Mack and Laura when I was a small child. Did she have a nephew named Michael and a niece named Sylvia? Never made a connection until now.

Mrs. Cleo and her husband Coach Pernici were two humans clad with a great sense of integrity and sensibilities. I was a student of Coach at Linwood and later had the pleasure of spending time with Mrs. Pernici at Shreveport Gymnastics. Together, the finest people I have ever met! They together made all feel like family! May God bless.
