Allan and other Family Members:

I was saddened to learn of T.D.'s passing and would like to offer my condolences to all of you. Although I don't believe I ever had the opportunity to meet T.D., I feel like I knew him after hearing Dad (Louis) speak so often of (Great) Uncle Taylor's family as I was growing up. May your memories of T.D. keep him with you always.

(Allan, since I was unable to attend the Isom reunions in Clinton when you and T.D. were there, you may not remember me, but Dad brought you by the abstract company where I worked many years ago for a very nice visit.)

I'm sad to learn of Mr. Isom's passing. I had the pleasure of getting to know him, and dealing with him when I was at Merrill Lynch in the 1980's. He was always a fine fellow! All my sympathies to his loved ones.

To T. D.'s family,

So very sorry for your loss. I know all of you will miss him greatly. T. D. and my father, Louis, were first cousins, and Dad always enjoyed the times that they got to visit with each other.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Taylor D. (T.D.) Isom, Jr. our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for T.D.. And to T.D. it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Navy. T.D., we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to T.D.'s family and loved ones.
