I just want to stop and take this time to say thank you all for your condolences. This has been a very difficult time for myself and my brothers. We are all truly grateful to have had such wonderful loving parents. Many of you may not have known but mom had passed away Mar. 29, 2010. After she passed dad had a hard time without her around but he still lived his life to the fullest. Now that both of our parents have passed it's been very difficult just to accept the fact that they are no longer here. However, there will be a time when we all will accept that they are gone. When that happens things in life will get easier one day at a time. Anyway, thank you all for your thoughtful comments & prayers.

I was one of the fortunate people to know Al and Sandy. We all spent many hours on the lake with our group which we called the "Kahunas". Trips to Galveston with the gang, dances at the Elk;s Club, train trip to LSU football game…..all so much fun back then. Having lived in Housont, for many years, I lost touch with the family and this I regret. I met all three of the children when they were just little ones. I had not heard of Sandy's passing. I was at that wedding all those years ago. Your Dad was the most polite, humble and wonderful men I have ever had the privilege of knowing. My sympathies to all. (back then, I was known as Merk, so you might have heard of me that way. ) Your Mom and Dad left you with a wonderful legacy. God bless you all. I wish I could be there to pay a final tribute to him.

To the children of Mr. Bolton:

Your father was always one of the special joys of our Friday meetings of the Optimist Club of Shreveport. I was honored and felt privileged to bestow upon him the credentials of Lifetime Member of Optimist International. Your mother, Sandy, attended the Optimist Club Christmas party in my home, the year I was president of the club. They brought me a singing Santa Claus, which I will cherish forever.

I admired Mr. Bolton so greatly that when a DJ from a local radio station teasingly made fun of his sweater, I quit listening to the station. Period. ha!

His weather forecast may not have always been perfect but it was always "right on." And his unique voice will always ring in my ears.

Rest in peace, my precious friend, Mr. Al Bolton.

Always,
Janis Kubat

As a young child he was "The Voice" of the news. He had so much pride,a distinguished prescence, as a news anchor, he delivered hard hitting news, w/ poise, but during lighter moments, some story or another news anchor, would get him tickled and his laugh was so infectious. He was so trusted as an anchor, because he was a straight shooter, never heard anything negative about him. He was a consement GENTLEMAN! I saw Mr. Bolton out in public places and he was always polite. He had a quiet soft manner when dealing w/ the public, people asking for autographs, and yet a shyness. He'll always be remembered by my generation because that's who we knew and our parents watched Al Bolton. Very lovely and kind man. How are you enjoying peace, tranquility, and your WINGS! Prayers and Peace to all of the family, co-workers, the numerous friends that are mourning the loss of a special soul! Peace be with You! MR. AL ??

Grew up watching one of the finest
on-air professionals in the United States, Mr. Al Bolton.

Congratulations to him for an excellent job that inspired us all. Forget any awards he won, he did not need them, it was his style. One of the finest "voices" on any broadcast--Nationwide.

He has now passed the test and moved on.

Having been born in 1954, I grew up listening to our wonderful and very accurate weatherman, Al Bolton. In his retirement years I enjoyed running into him at the grocery store. A true gentleman.
This morning, after seeing his obituary, I felt very sad for his family and Shreveport. In his passing we have lost a legend, a wonderful citizen and friend.
God Speed!

Mr. Bolton was one of a fading number of Americans known as the Greatest Generation. Though never a meteorologist his dedication to informing the local public was superb. Many of today's on-camera individuals with degrees whose primary interests are ratings and celebrity status would do well to exhibit a mere touch of Mr. Bolton's humility.

I grew up watching him on the weather report, and there was no one like him. He was a treasure that I enjoyed because I knew he did his best on reporting the weather, Well done, Big Al.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Albert Martin Bolton our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for “Al”. And to “Al” it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II and the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Navy. “Al”, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to “Al”'s family and loved ones.
