I've long lived away from Shreveport and just learned of Charles' passing. I came to know Charles in the late 1970s-early 1980s when he was serving on the Shreveport City Council and I was a reporter for The Shreveport Times. I'll always remember Charles as a man of outstanding character, capability, and kind consideration of others. He enriched my life and, I'm confident, the lives of countless other fortunate people.

Dear Betsy, please know how sorry I am to learn of Charles' passing. I remember him to be such a good man and fun to be around. My Dad knew Charles in Shreveport legal circles and he had such great respect for his work. I know it has been many years since we last saw each other, but I have such fond memories of being with you and your families. My condolences to you during this difficult time. Shreveport has lost one of it's finest leaders. Although I was not born and raised in Shreveport, Charles always made me feel "at home" when working on the many projects we shared. I have never met a more sincere, honest human being than Charles.
