Mr. Sid was a living example of the word respect. He loved God, His country, family and his many many friends. And we loved him in return. His respect for our choices gave us the courage to continue to do the right thing one day at a time.
Sid will always be a part of my recovery, forever in my heart and memories. I love you all...Jackie I am here for you day or night. The candle will stay burning for you my friend.

Jackie, and the rest of the family. My deep felt prayers are with you during this time of sorrow. Sid will be dearly missed. I will miss his firm yet quite leadership. He was a strong example of how one should live their life. I will really miss not seeing him sit at the end of the table at noon time. I thank God for sending Sid my way for almost forty years. Myself and countless others have been helped and blessed by Sid Mayeux. Thank you!

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Sidney M. Mayeux our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Sidney. And to Sidney it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars while serving first in the U.S. Navy and then in the U.S. Air Force. Sidney, we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Sidney’s family and loved ones.
