In 1985 he co-founded Credit Life Investment Company in Shreveport, a holding company which purchased all of the life insurance companies previously owned by AMI. By the time he retired in 2000, Cliff Long was serving as president, director or chairman of the board for nine holding and insurance companies in Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma.

Mrs. Long died in Shreveport in March 1985 after 44 years of marriage. Mr. Long married Ellen Eaves in November 1986. Their marriage lasted until her death in 1994. For several years Mr. Long was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bossier City where he taught a Bible class for Senior Adults.

Clyde Wayne & Esther Ottinger

July 4, 2007

I cherish every day my relationship with Cliff as a second cousin, I gues that is right as our mothers were first cousins. He was very kind to my parents, Clyde and Pauline Ottinger -- he stayed with them in Phoenix during some of his high school years till my mother was pregnet with me.

I always enjoyed our family visits in the 50's and 60's and my present wife Esther got to meet Cliff as we we went through Shreveport on our honeymoon trip in 1976.

Please keep in touch. My sister, Jeanne, remembers Steve taking her to see Snow White in the late thirties as we were visiting Aunt Eula.
