Specht
MINDEN, LA - Funeral services for David Specht will be held Monday, April 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Living Word Worship Center in Minden. Officiating will be the Rev. David Divilbiss. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
David was born October 29, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and entered into rest April 14, 2011 in Bossier City.
In 1968, Mr. Specht moved to Minden, was the publisher of the Minden Press-Herald, and eventually became its owner. After several years publishing newspapers in states such as Alabama, Florida and Kentucky, Mr. Specht formed Specht Newspapers, Inc. in 1983.
The company has published the Press-Herald for more than 30 years, providing daily local news to the residents of Minden.
In addition to owning the Minden Press-Herald, Mr. Specht owned the Bossier Press-Tribune and Minden's local print shop, Webster Printing.
His parents, Arthur and Mary Specht; sister, Mary Ann Taylor; and brother, James A. Specht preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Specht of Minden; son, David Specht, Jr. and wife; Tina of Minden; sister, Melanie Montgomery of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, William Specht of Shreveport; and grandchildren, Zachary and Joshua Specht of Minden.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to Living Word Worship Center Building Fund, 440 Hwy. 531, Minden, Louisiana 71055.
