Sending blessings and healing to Jere's family and i feel so blessed to have known JB! I loved his laughter and admired his strength. He choose to live his life on his terms and not the illness'. Bill and I will miss our summer time hikes, sits and conversations in YNP. You will be sorely missed my friend!

To the families of Jere, I would like to express my deepest sympathy at the passing of such a wonderful person. Jere dealt with his illness quietly, optimistically, and with very little complaining. When my father was faced with the same illness, Jere gave him suggestions, support, and even talked with my parents on the phone. We had many good times in Yellowstone, visiting while we waited for a big geyser to erupt or chatting over a campfire while sharing a good meal. Jere's positive outlook sometimes made me forget just what he was dealing with. He shared his passion for caving and archaeological digs with my son. He was a great friend and I am sure there is a new star twinkling up in the heavens.

I count myself lucky to have been a friend of Jere in high school, and also roommates for a couple of semesters at LSU. In 1969, Jere was best man at my wedding. He gave me and my wife the greatest wedding present I have ever seen... a small sculpture which we cherish to this day.
