Kenneth Dale (K.D.) Kilpatrick

RUSTON, LA - Funeral services for Kenneth Dale Kilpatrick, of Ruston, will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston with Dr. Jerry Hilburn officiating, assisted by Rev. Andy Hurst, Rev. Brian Mercer, Dr Rick Byargeon, and Dr. Pat Garrett delivering the eulogy.

K.D. was born June 14, 1928, to Edgar Noel and Effie Mae Hicks Kilpatrick of Farmerville. He graduated from Farmerville High School, attended Louisiana Tech, and graduated from Landig College of Mortuary Science in Houston, Texas. He was the coowner of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes, Inc., Central American Life Insurance Company, Inc. and Ashley Life Insurance Company, Inc., until his retirement in 2001.

As a young businessman, he was named Outstanding Young Man of the Year by the Farmerville Jaycees, and served as President of the Farmerville Chamber of Commerce. K. D. was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. An avid outdoorsman, he was actively involved in Ducks Unlimited throughout north Louisiana cofounding Ducks Unlimited Lincoln Parish a member of the Ruston Kiwanis Club for over 35 years, Masonic Lodge #106 F. and A.M. where he was a 32nd degree Mason, El Karubah Shrine of Ruston, Ruston Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, serving as a board member and president. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Tech Alumni Foundation, and two bank boards. He served in the Louisiana State Senate from 1972 to 1976.

A veteran funeral director of 56 years, K.D. influenced the funeral industry both locally and nationally. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of National Selected Morticians, past president of the North Louisiana Funeral Directors Association, past president of the Louisiana Funeral Directors Association, and member of the National Association of Funeral Directors.

K.D. is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Burford Kilpatrick, Ruston; son: K.D. Kilpatrick, Jr. and wife Mitzie, Shreveport; daughter: Paula Kilpatrick Kirk and husband, Les, Shreveport, son, Richard Barham Kilpatrick, Farmerville; daughter, Melanie Kilpatrick Jarrell Willets and husband David, Tulsa, OK; brother: Tex R. Kilpatrick and wife Carole, Monroe; sister: Johnnie Nell "Sis" Gorton, West Monroe; sister-in-law and brother-in- law: Jeanette and Billy Key Clinton, MS; grandchildren: Jason Kilpatrick Kirk and wife, Charis, Shreveport; Joshua Stone Kilpatrick Shreveport; Connor Lewis Kilpatrick and wife Caroline, Nashville, TN; Ryan Reeves Kilpatrick and wife Sarah, Ruston; Christopher Kilpatrick Kirk and wife Kristin, Shreveport; Beau Jarrell, Nashville, TN; Kristin Kilpatrick Stuart and husband Robert, Orlando, FL; Melanie Elizabeth Kirk, Shreveport; Jordan Kilpatrick Jarrell, Ruston, Taylor Noel Kilpatrick, Paris, TN; Anna Charlotte Jarrell, Tulsa, OK; Richard Colin Kilpatrick, Paris, TN; Annie Wise and husband Toby of Thibodaux; great grandchildren: Cassidy Lee Kirk, Shreveport; Georgia Kate Stuart, Orlando, FL; Sophie, Wesley and Olivia Wise of Thibodaux; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are Stein Baughman, Billy Belding, Carroll Cochran, Robert Dawkins Jeff Elliott, Randy Ewing, Hoye Grafton, Harry Liner, Jimmy Love, LD McGehe Boyd Mothe, Dan O'Neal, Jr, Dan O'Neal, III, John O'Neal, Neil Riser, and Joe Pickel.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 16th, from 4:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. at Trinity United Methodist Church.
