TULSA, OK - Services celebrating the life of Oscar (Clayton) Hathaway, Jr., 90, will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2016, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Mimi McDowell of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Forest Park East Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the funeral home.

Clayton was born October 25, 1926 in Shreveport, LA to Jessie Oberdorfer Hathaway and Oscar Clayton Hathaway, Sr., and passed away November 20, 2016 in Jenks, Oklahoma. Clayton graduated from St. John's High School. Before starting college, he joined the United States Navy and faithfully served on the USS Casablanca in the Pacific during World War ll. Clayton then attended Louisiana Tech University earning a Business Degree. He continued his love of the military serving 20 years in the Air Force Reserve retiring with the rank of Major. When Clayton was not serving in the military, he worked at Westinghouse Electric, Interstate Electric, and Electric Supply as their Purchasing Manager. He loved watching his favorite teams, Dallas Cowboys, and the Houston Astros play. Clayton was a member of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother who loved God and his family. He will be missed by all that loved him.

Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Erie L. Hathaway. Leaving to cherish his memory are his children; son, Oscar C. Hathaway lll and wife, Kimla; granddaughter, Samantha Lynn Hathaway; and brother, Don Hathaway and wife, Betty Lou.

Honoring Clayton as pallbearers will be the Air Force Honor Guards. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jim Guy Gibson, Louis Gibson, Rev. Jack Gibson, John D. Caruthers, Jr., H.H. "Andy" Andrews, William "Bill" Dowden, and the Couple's Class at Noel United Methodist Church.

My Condolences to the Hathaway Family. I have very fond memories of Mr. Clay at Westinghouse as a child . He and my dad (Jim Olson) worked together for many years. He was a wonderful man. Prayers for his family.

The Final Salute

Brothers in Arms, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged Hand Salutes as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This Hand Salute is the last that we shall render to Oscar Clayton Hathaway, Jr. our Brother-in-Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Clayton. And to Clayton it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Navy. Clayton, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
