Kelly Cawthon Obituary
SHREVEPORT, LA - Mr. Kelly S. Cawthon, 79, passed away in Shreveport, LA on Thursday, November 20, 2008. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22nd, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2008, in the Chapel of Osborn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating will be Dr. Billy McCormack.
Mr. Cawthon was a native of Mexia, TX and a resident of Shreveport since 1972. He was a petroleum geologist and a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a member of University Worship Center.
Mr. Cawthon is survived by his wife, Lola Cawthon; one son, Matthew Cawthon; his brother-in-law, Warren D. Caileff and wife, Tillie; his brother, Pete W. Cawthon, Jr. and wife, Charlsie; and three nephews, Peter W. Cawthon, III, David Cawthon and Mark Cawthon.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Kelly S. Cawthon our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Kelly. And to Kelly it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Army. Kelly, we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Kelly’s family and loved ones.
