SHREVEPORT, LA - Mattie (Honey) Mims, 88, beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the Life Care Center of Southeast Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was the beloved wife of the late James Mims Sr. who passed in 1978. Born in Gilliam, Louisiana on November 28, 1922, she was the youngest and only daughter of the late Andrew and Gussie (Graham) Savannah.
Family Hour will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM at Patterson Funeral Home, 1220 North Hearne Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71107. The funeral will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Greater Hope Church, 4355 Greenwood Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71109. Mattie will be laid to rest in Paradise Cemetery, Hosston, Louisiana 71043.

Over the last 10 years, I have missed you Grandma.
I remember you riding with me in my little green sports car back in the late 90's picking up food and shopping. I laughed every time I think about that because you, were not sure about my driving but still rode along with me anyways.

He went that way is all she said as her daughter and I sat on the floor preparing gifts for her granddaughter's impending wedding. It was the first time I had ever heard her speak. I quickly learned that we had our soaps in common and she made me laugh calling all of the characters out of their names. I will miss you Mrs. Mims and may you rest in peace.

Grandma,
A day haven't passed since you left us that I haven't thought about you. I keep forgetting that I can't go by and see you or call you. But when I go by your picture in my hallway I smile, knowing your in a better place. I will always remember you in my heart, my thoughts, and in my prayers.
