Rena Player Obituary
BENTON, LA. Celebration of life services for Mrs. Rena Mae Player, 82, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Greater New Zion Baptist Church, Benton, La. Rev. Donald Anderson, Sr., Pastor. Rev. Curtis Gladney, officiating. Interment will follow at Benton Community Cemetery. Family hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at Queen Ester Missionary B.C., 201 Carrier Ave., Benton, La.
Mrs. Player entered into eternal rest on September 11, 2014 after a brief illness. She was a member of the Star of Hope Order of the Eastern Star. She was a very kindred spirit and never knew a stranger. Her passion was fishing. She reared her family with a steadfast hold on her faith. She retired form the Bossier Parish School Board.
She is survived by her sons; Bennie Jr."Sonny" (Dianne), Charles (Ola), Calvin (Linda), John, Michael (Elizabeth) and Vernon (Barbara), daughters; Doris Player and Debbie Player Bell, brother; C. T. Moore, sister-in-law; Mable Player, 36 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years; Bennie Player Sr., parents; Mr. Joseph & Zephyr James Smith, son; Bruce Player, sister; Rose Mary Smith, brothers; Willie Smith, Sr. and Edward Smith.
Special thanks to WK-Bossier, especially RN (Karla), Red River Home Health, Dr. Carter Boyd Jr., and the Benton Branch of the Bossier Council on Aging for the fellowship.
